A pop up card

This one is a little difficult and I honestly don’t know how to write the directions for it.  So I’m going to demonstrate it for each of you in person (remember the good ole’ days?)

EDIT:  Here’s a YouTube video to help you understand how this card goes together.

https://youtu.be/4NZ2gz3eOEw

I have already folded the major section of the card for you.  This is the front of the card:

We’ve made this type of card so some of you might remember how to make it.  The front has 2 vertical strips on the left side of the card, with a narrow gap between them.  The third vertical strip goes on the right side of the card.  Also on the left side are 8 horizontal strips evenly spaced over the 2 vertical strips.  Leave a gap between each of the horizontal pieces so the left side of the card looks woven.

Sweet bunny

Not all of you have this bunny.  That’s just because you didn’t sign up for it.

This is a terrible picture but it’s 10:30 on Thursday night and I’m kicking myself for procrastinating until the last minute to write this blog.  I promise I’ll do better in the future!

The bunny is put together mostly with pop-ups.  The top layer of each of the segments is not popped up.  These are the segments you should put together first:

The body consists of three pieces:  black, purple, and pink.  These are the largest pieces.

The next segment is the leg and paw.  This consists of a solid yellow piece, topped by a pink piece with flowers cut out of it.

The next segment is the arm and hand.  This consists of a solid yellow piece topped by a pink piece with flowers cut out of it.

Are you following along okay?

Now put the face together.  The bottom layer is black, topped by a blue layer, then topped by a white layer.  All three of those pieces are the same shape.  When you put them together, make sure the “eyes” are facing down and to the bunny’s left.

Now put the purple face piece together with the pink face piece.

Take the 3 layers that form the eyes (black, blue, and white) and put them behind the 2 layer face pieces.

Now take the two ear pieces and put them together (yellow on the black ears) topped by the pink cut out pieces.

So now you should have all the segments put together and you can fit them in their proper area; leg and paw segment, arm segment, face segment, and two ear segments.

Take the white face piece and attach the grey outline.  Don’t pop it up.

If you’ve gotten this far without calling me an swearing at me, you’ve done great!  The only things left are the glasses and the sign that the bunny is holding, which I glued on behind the bunny’s paw.  Oh, don’t forget to put the Pom Pom on the bunny’s tail.

And you are finished!!

I’m going to include some other pictures just to give you some guidance.  They are in no particular order.

Happy Birthday to you

Again, this is a fairly simple card.  Just follow the layout as shown above.

The inside:

A choo choo train for the men in your life.

I think it is pretty obvious how this card goes together.

This is the inside sentiment:

And, of course, a card in a box

There are 3 inserts to this card.  I have numbered each insert.   3 goes in the back, 2 goes in front of 3 and 1 goes in front of 2.  I’ll bet you could have figured that out on your own.  In addition, each of the floral pieces are numbered.  1L goes on the left side of the #1 insert while 1R goes on the right side of the #1 insert.  I’m guessing you’ve already figured out what to do with the rest of the flowers.

Here are a couple more views, including the back.

A final brief statement

Well, I’ve been fighting with Blogger since 10:00 p.m. and it is now 3:20 a.m.  I, for one, will be thrilled when we can return to in person classes and I can bid a fond fairwell to writing this blog.  In fairness to everyone who normally attends classes, everyone will need both vaccine shots with the last one being 4 weeks earlier.  That’s a precaution not necessarily supported by the CDC but it is supported by me.

I’ll post these cards in the morning (I think I’m delirious and talking to myself) so for now I’m off to bed.  See you in the morning!

A brief statement

Today’s cards are so simple I’m sure you don’t need directions.  But since I’ve already cleaned the kitchen the 99th time since the lockdown, I might as well write some brief directions.  So here we go:

Who doesn’t love a grumpy old man?

We always need male cards and I absolutely love this one!    I made 3 extra cards because I need one for my brother, for a dear friend I grew up with and still laugh with, and the card is perfect for my boss!  I hope you all have someone to send it to.

The card is vey simple to put together.  There are no different folds, no weird shapes, and no bows!  Of course, you will have to color it, though if you hate coloring, you can skip that step.

And this is the inside of the card:

Some bunny loves you.

I have to admit, this is a digital image.  It’s the first time I ever bought a digital stamp.  I just thought this bunny was so cute!

I’m just going to upload a series of photos I took while assembling this card:

That’s it except for the inside sentiment:

Thinking of You

This is another simple card.  If you just follow along with the assembly photos, you won’t have any problems.  Thinking of You is popped up.

I cut a slit in the top part of the vase to slip the florals into the vase.

For those of you with a good memory, this was my entry in Card Challenge #5.

See you next week!

And finally, an Irish card in a box. Let’s hear it for the Irish!!

The first insert is the cute leprechaun holding a three leaf clover.  The second insert is the leprechaun holding a stein of beer.  The final insert is a leprechaun just sitting there.  And of course, there is a lucky horseshoe on the front of the back piece.

Here are some additional photos from other angles, including the back.

And as my sainted grandmother, born in Ireland, used to say

               Bí go maith, a chairde
